If every day was 41.95 – tasting notes from Barzone in Cologne
The idea is nice. The publishers house Meininger calls for wine samples for their presentation area at the international trade fair wine and spirits ProWein http://www.prowein.com. The wines selected by the journalists and the best samples are reused to distill vodka out of it. 95 wines from 41 countries have made it the first time. The product is a new approach by the publishers house Meininger (Weinwelt, Weinwirtschaft, FIZZZ, Eurodecor, etc.) and could be a fine possibility for the bar and trend fair Barzone www.barzone.de in Cologne.
It was my first time at Barzone and really had two fantastic days with a lot of fine impressions. The concept is based on several areas of interests like spirits, coffee, wine, champagne, craft beer, social applications, interior design and somehow food. Wow, what a general approach and a mix of fantastic topics. The table is set!
But in the end many sessions are half empty, topics like food (pairing), social media (well shitstorms are always trendy and easy going, but what about some discussion on future trends, ideas and possibilities?) or wine are shabbily treated? The fair is a fantastic opportunity to connect and make interact different areas of interest to a melting pot of gastronomic creativity. Hey guys, you have a fantastic base. Now make it a 41.95 and push boundaries!
My personal favourites from this Barzone (including the possibility that I’ve a bad taste and missed a lot out):
